A Few of My Tutoring Students

Carina came to the U.S from China in 10th grade and we began working together at the start of the 11th grade. We studied vocabulary and idioms every week, while building her understanding of grammar. Together we addressed the reading and writing she needed to do for all her classes, as well as Regents exams in American History and English. She graduated as an Honor Society student and received several additional awards. Carina’s SAT scores increased a remarkable 600 points over the course of two years! Finally, I guided her in writing her remarkable personal story for her college essay. Today, Carina is attending City College’s Colin Powell School for Civic and Global Leadership.

To Whom It May Concern:

I am pleased to write this recommendation on behalf of Ms. Marsha Waldman.  Ms. Waldman has worked with my son since February of 2015 to prepare him for the SATs and most recently to help him write/proofread his college essay. Due to her background and experience with the College Board, my son’s SAT scores improved tremendously in comparison to his PSATs, by roughly 30percentage points in each of the categories.

Ms. Waldman was very easy to work with and accommodated our scheduling needs.

Due to my son’s improvement in his SAT scores and the ease of working with Ms. Waldman, I offer my recommendation without reservation. If you have any questions or require further information, please do not hesitate to contact me at the email address provided above.

Sincerely,

Maria C. Stanley

From the parent of a boy with a very creative mind who has difficulty organizing his ideas... Our work during 8th grade positioned him to take honors classes in 9th grade....

From the parent of a Patterson High School Senior studying for the SATs...

Marsha has been my son’s English and writing tutor for the past year and we couldn’t be more pleased with his progress. Marsha has taken time to get to the bottom of why Justin finds certain things difficult and how he learns best, so that she can develop effective reading and writing strategies that he can immediately implement in the classroom.

Her patience, dedication and genuine concern for Justin’s academic success is clear to us, and more importantly to him, who realizes the value that Marsha brings to the table. This translates to him being a ready and willing participant during lessons, which makes a world of difference.

After every lesson, Marsha communicates to me exactly what she has gone over with Justin, provides her assessment of how well he grasped the lesson, and discusses any assignments to be completed in order to cement the material discussed. I appreciate that Marsha has been flexible enough to accommodate my son’s sports schedule and to switch up lesson plans from time to time in order to assist Justin with school writings projects.

Thanks to Marsha, Justin is becoming a more careful reader, a more analytical writer and a more critical thinker. We plan on continuing our relationship with Marsha throughout Justin’s high school career. Through her carefully planned lessons, she is already preparing him for the SATs, which are two years away, and laying the foundation for his success.

If you are in need of an English or writing tutor for your child, don’t hesitate to contact Marsha.
